Enrichment
As a group of subjects, Design and Technology, Food and Art help our pupils develop creative ideas alongside a broad range of practical skills. They encourage pupils to take risks and be innovative.
We also aim to give pupils confidence and independence in different areas which will be beneficial to them in the future, providing them with a range of life skills.
In Art pupils are taught to develop their creativity and ideas and increase proficiency in their execution. They should develop a critical understanding of artists, architects, and designers, expressing reasoned judgements that can inform their own work.
In DT pupils will develop their creative, technical, and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world. They will build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users' critique, evaluate, and test their ideas and products.
The Food curriculum is designed to help students gain the necessary skills and knowledge to become confident in the kitchen and be able to follow and adapt a recipe. They also learn about food origins, nutrition and healthy eating, and other related areas.
